PKN's proprietary Gemini carbon capture technologies are an all-encompassing cost-effective solution for decarbonizing natural gas tailpipe GHG emissions. Our proven technologies consist of three main elements: CO2 separation from exhaust gases, purification of recovered CO2, and pressurization of the CO2 product for delivery.
PKN’s compact, portable, and stationary CO2 recovery systems are designed to position our customers to tackle challenging sites and conditions responsibly - with flexible and adaptable systems to meet your mission-critical applications. Using an environmental/ecological focus, we develop decarbonization solutions and services for GHG sources from 5,000 to 50,000 tonnes CO2/year (equivalent to the energy use of 630 to 6,300 homes for one year 1).

PKN Reduces Natural Gas Related GHG Emissions
PKN low environmental impact carbon capture technologies address Greenhouse gas emissions associated with natural gas use - starting at the sources (producing oil & natural gas wells or renewable gas), through transmission and distribution, and end-use at the burner tip or engine.
Businesses using our decarbonization products will reduce their direct Scope 1 Greenhouse gas emissions. Onsite power generation (including cogeneration) with CCUS can reduce Scope 2 emissions below grid power (for example, over Greenhouse gas emissions of less than 90% of coal-generated power). Greenhouse gas reductions at your facilities reduce the Scope 3 emissions of your customers, benefiting their supply chain emissions - and will provide distinct product differentiation from your competitors.
Targeted segments include oil & gas production installations; natural gas pipelines; power generation; mining and materials manufacturing; food processing, agriproducts, and ethanol production; and campus, hospital, warehouse, and institutional sites. Typical Gemini installations include engines, compressors, generators, industrial heaters and boilers found in most industrial settings, power generation facilities, large building complexes, and district heating and cogeneration developments.
Our Current Projects
Meeting Sustainability Goals with Cost Effective Oil & Gas Well Pad Decarbonization
Enerplus Resources USA identified a carbon footprint associated with using natural gas-fueled portable generators at well pads in North Dakota. They required an easy-to-operate, low-environmental impact solution that integrated with their field operations.
PKN is providing portable Gemini 20-tonne CO2/day (equivalent to the annual GHG emissions of over 1,500 gasoline-powered passenger vehicles ² ) modular carbon capture systems to recover the CO2 for safe underground geologic sequestration. As permanent grid power is installed on the well pads, PKN’s Gemini systems will be relocated along with the temporary generators to new sites in the Bakken oil field.
The Enerplus project was awarded a grant by the State of North Dakota Clean Sustainable Energy Authority and will qualify for US IRA 45Q credits.
Recovering CO2 for Cost Savings in Greenhouse Operations
PKN is designing a compact, modular system to recover CO2 from natural gas generators for use in large commercial greenhouses. The exciting part is the greenhouse owner will realize significant cost savings from reduced natural gas use and eliminating costly third-party CO2 purchases.
Lowering the Carbon Intensity and Increasing the Profits of an Ethanol Producer
Ethanol producers are improving the carbon intensity-based pricing of products delivered to Clean Fuel Standard markets with CCS. PKN is developing a low environmental impact solution for a client that will not affect their other corn-based products - made for human and animal consumption - and will qualify for US IRA 45Q tax credits.
Combined Carbon Capture and Power Cogeneration Reduces Footprints and Help the Bottom-line
PKN is working on combining our Gemini carbon capture technologies with natural gas-fueled cogeneration. The benefits are lower cost power and heating - with a carbon footprint lower than most electrical grids.
